Dr. Ramsdell has practiced medical and surgical dermatology for almost 30 years, first at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, then in his own practice in Austin, beginning in 1983. In addition to his solo practice, he served as Chief of Dermatology at Brackenridge Hospital (now University Medical Center Brackenridge) from 1987 to 1989.
As technological advancements in the 1990s began making dramatic cosmetic improvement an affordable reality, Dr. Ramsdell opened SkinCare Austin medical spa to complement his clinical dermatology practice. He is the on-site, full-time medical director.
A talented painter, sculptor, and potter, Dr. Ramsdell is attuned to the nuances that make pleasing shapes, textures, and forms. His cosmetic work is a beautiful blend of art and science.
Dr. Ramsdell is a highly regarded dermatologist and surgeon with a long history of excellence and innovation. He was the first doctor in Central Texas to introduce the CO2 coherent laser for skin resurfacing and eye lifts and served as a certified preceptor, teaching other physicians how to perform these exacting procedures. He was one of the first doctors in the nation chosen to train in Europe and introduce the Sculptra™
cosmetic filler to the United States. He is also a sought-after specialist in Mohs Micrographic Surgery for skin cancer. Dr. Ramsdell is active in a number of respected medical organizations and has presented numerous lectures and authoritative scientific papers on medical and surgical dermatology.
Dr. Ramsdell serves as medical director for The Miracle Foundation, bringing help and hope to orphaned children in India. He also works with MEDICO, delivering health care to people in need in remote areas of Central America.
In his private time he collects and creates art and enjoys gardening, hunting, and fly fishing.

Lady Bird Johnson visits with Dr. Ramsdell during the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center's Gardens on Tour event. Dr. Ramsdell's home was selected for the 2007 tour.
Dr. Ramsdell's success with native Texas Hill Country plants is evident at his home and office. He is a popular guest on radio and TV gardening programs and is the subject of a profile on KLRU-TV's Central Texas Gardener.

Dr. Halliday McDonald is a Board Certified Dermatologist with expertise in general medical dermatology for both adults and children, as well as surgical dermatology. She has experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of skin conditions, including skin cancer, acne, psoriasis, eczema, nail disorders, alopecia, pigmentary disorders, and many others. She also performs cosmetic procedures including BOTOX, Juv̻derm, Radiesse, chemical peels, and sclerotherapy for spider veins.
Dr. McDonald is dedicated to providing compassionate and quality care to each patient in an individualized manner. She is passionate about sun protection and skin cancer prevention. She believes in teaching her patients to be active participants in the health of their skin. She performs voluntary skin cancer screenings each year, and she is committed to the early detection of skin cancer.
Dr. McDonald trained in Texas and spent time as an academic dermatologist in Dallas, teaching dermatology to residents and medical students before moving to Colorado in 2010, where she joined a private practice. Her family moved to Austin in 2011, and the McDonalds are excited to make the city their permanent home Dr. McDonald is joined here by her husband, John, an orthopaedic surgeon, and their daughter. She and John enjoy hiking, skiing, cooking, and spending time with their daughter.
Certified Physician's Assistant Central Texas Dermatology
Mellissa Binney, our physician's assistant, prescribes medication and performs
examinations and minor surgery under the supervision of Dr. Ramsdell. She is licensed
to practice medicine by the Texas State Medical Licensing Board and is certified by the
National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Mellissa is a cum laude
graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and has past medical experience as a
P.A. in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Dermatology.
Mellissa is a dedicated volunteer for medical missions, building sustainable healthcare initiatives in remote areas of Central and South America through treatment, immunization, and education.
Mellissa examines young patients at Rancho el Paraiso clinic in an isolated mountainous area of Honduras. Infant mortality rates have dropped 98% in the Agalta Valley since Atlanta-based Honduras Outreach began these medical missions.
Mellissa volunteered at Clinica Medicina in Riobamba, Ecuador in 2010, treating medical conditions of children and adults and educating mothers about ways to improve the health of their families.
